USA Hockey and MSCHA require all coaches, on-ice helpers and board members to complete the following items. Please forward any receipts to the club treasurer for any reimbursement. If you have any questions about these items please contact the club president.
USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION
REQUIRED BEFORE TAKING THE ICE FOR PRACTICE
USA Hockey registration is required for all players and coaches who take the ice. This is effectively your insurance that helps cover medical expenses in the event of a hockey related injury. Click on become a member, then register now (coaches click on Player/Coach, board members click on Manager/Volunteer, then follow the steps)

SAFESPORT
REQUIRED BEFORE TAKING THE ICE FOR PRACTICE
Safesport is an online module to help coaches and volunteers become aware of the information necessary to help prevent abuse from occurring in our sport. Click on “access required core training here”. This course is now required annually.
BACKGROUND CHECK
All adult coaches, officials, board members, employees, volunteers, and anyone else who will have regular contact with, or authority over, athletes under the age of 18 are required to submit to a background screen before any such contact with those athletes.
CEP Certification: Coaching Clinics - All new coaches will need to register for CEP level 1 training. Existing coaches may need to update their levels. Once logged in, click on USA Hockey Courses Link.
AGE SPECIFIC ONLINE MODULE
In addition to your in-person coaching certification USA Hockey requires that coaches take an online courses for both the specific age of players that you will be coaching and another one covering player safety. Coaches need to ensure one-time completion of two modules: Coaching-14 & Under Module, and Coaching – 16/18/19 & Under Module.
